Honolulu Here We Come

We're planning to wrap up our week in Hawaii with a couple of days in Honolulu starting tomorrow afternoon. Today started with a four hour snorkel tour which included sea caves (into which the captain took our Zodiak raft) and spinner dolphins leaping out straight up into the air. We also snorkeled in two bays including the Captain Cook monument where he was killed (interestingly the monument sits on a tiny plot of land actually deeded to the British).

Then this afternoon we drove a bit further north to visit Hapuna Beach, rated one of the top ten beaches according to Conde Nast Traveler (hearsay via our Lonely Planet guidebook of course).

After the beach and a fine Mexican meal in downtown Kona-kailua, we wrapped up the day at Mamalahoa hot tubs. Highly recommended even though the water was incredibly and painfully hot.
